Laaf
Fairytale
|
| The
History of the Laafs |
|
|
| As
with most fairy tales, this story begins with 'Once upon a time...'
However, the Laaf tale is quite unique. For the Laafs are not only
legendary characters from the past; they still exist! The story
lives on, even as you read this. And better yet, you can visit the
Laafs. But we're getting ahead of ourselves....Let's start at the
beginning! |
| Long,
long ago the Laafs lived at the North Pole. "Brrrrrr...far
too cold," you might say. "Only Eskimos and polar
bears can live there." That is true today, but in that
time, millions of years ago, things were different. The
North Pole was a tropical paradise. Beautifully-colored
birds soared in the air, palm trees swayed in the gentle
breeze and it was so delightfully warm that the Laafs did
not even need to build houses for shelter. They just slept
under a straw roof in the open air. |

|
| The
Laafs were good to each other. They never quarreled. They enjoyed a
happy existence with one another, in the tropical paradise at the
North Pole. Father Laaf and Mother Lot, the patriarch and matriarch
of the Laafs, oftentimes looked contentedly at one another and
sighed, "How fortunate we are to have such happy
children!" |
| The
Laaf's happiness lasted for many years. So long, in fact, that it
seemed like it would last forever. The sun shone, the birds chirped
and magnificent flowers bloomed. Every once in a while, Mother
Lot thought to herself, "It is almost too good to be
true." |
